DAY 1 MNFF 2026
The Mighty Niagara Film Fest kicks off Wednesday 11 November, with an evening that celebrates film, art, and the wonderfully unpredictable spirit of independent cinema.
We’re opening the doors at NAC for the official MNFF #6 Festival Launch, bringing together Niagara’s film community, artists, and film lovers for a first look at what’s in store. While you're here, take a wander through the latest exhibitions in the Dennis Tourbin Members Gallery and Plate Glass Gallery before settling in for Tidal Surges #1, a dynamic collection of short films featuring local filmmakers and distinct perspectives on how we move through, connect with, and respond to a changing world.
Over in Welland, we're taking the festival to the big screen at Cineplex Odeon Seaway Mall with On est au coton, Denys Arcand’s controversial 1970 documentary exploring the Quebec textile industry, the harsh realities of factory work, and the workers' struggles for better conditions.
Back at NAC, keep the night rolling with The History of Concrete, a late-night screening following filmmaker John Wilson's wonderfully offbeat attempt to apply the formula for writing and selling a Hallmark movie to a documentary about concrete. From local filmmaking to landmark documentary and a little late-night absurdity, there's no better way to get MNFF #6 underway!
